Hotel Sacher: Excellent Rooms, Service, and Cake

3.jpg

Based on Travel and Leisure’s site, one of the Top Hotels in Europe for 2008 is Hotel Sacher Wein. Located in Vienna, Austria, this five-star, 152-roomed hotel has been around since 1867. One of its specialties is the Sachertorte cake, considered by most guests as one of the best chocolate cakes they have ever tasted. Another one of its competitive edge over the other local hotels is the spa—voted as one of the best in the city.

Here are some excerpts from tripadvisor.com:

“I admit it. . . I wanted to stay here because of the famous cake. The original Sacher Torte is truly amazing . . . best chocolate cake I have ever had. . .”

fand, Washington, DC

Now, before this becomes a cake review, there were also many comments regarding the excellent service.

“The staff was absolutely lovely and precious…the concierge was very helpful, recommending a wonderful restaurant for dinner nearby. The Hungarian bellman was full of tips for the next leg of our trip (to Budapest) and greeted us like old friends each time we passed in the hallway.”

cleverlittlemadam, Los Angeles, CA

More former guests commented on the rooms and location as well:

“The hotel is truly a grand dame of a hotel – plush and beautifully decorated in the Belle Epoque style – lots of red velvet and midnight blue wallpaper – but all very tasteful. And – gorgeous chystal chandeliers!!!!!!!!! Like stepping back in time to the heyday of old Vienna.”

If you’re scheduled for a business trip next week in Milan and looking for a place to stay, then gently nudge your boss and tell him that you know a good hotel that has exemplary facilities and services.

Located in the heart of Milan’s business district, this four star hotel is situated near the Central Railway Station and Milan’s shopping district. The hotel is also WiFi capable which you can avail for as low (or as high, depending on your company’s budget for you) as 3.00 Euros. Plus, what’s good in this hotel is that you could bring your dog with you for free, no extra charge (due to the soundproof rooms they have)!

Magnificent hotel and wonderful personnel

The Hotel Sezz is situated in the 16th so off the compressed track but right by the Seine with an astounding view of the Eiffel Tower. It’s in a calm side street opposite delightful apartments with geranium decorated balconies, extremely French. It’s boutique and designer with chic but comfortable rooms. My friend’s room had a Japanese bath (beautiful but not terribly practical) removed from the bedroom by a full length glass wall. Bathroom products are Kiels and they’re generous with them too. Being slightly off the main drag you will need to get taxis into town (10 minutes, 18 Euros at most).

What actually sets the Sezz apart are the charming people who run it. Magali was controling things when we stayed and is a total happiness. She speaks excellent English and helps with any request. Whilst there I was taken ill (entirely my own fault, I wasn’t well when I left the UK but thought it would get better). I needed a doctor to be called to the hotel and Louis the night manager was wonderful, taking care of everything calmly and efficiently. Without doubt the team at Sezz are the most charming and helpful I’ve come across, not just in Paris but in my recent experience of hotels. It’s chic, reasonably priced and with lovely staff, do try it.
